
University of Szczecin, founded in 1985, is the biggest public higher education institution in north-west Poland. It employs over 300 professors, almost 500 adjuncts and over 300 research assistants. It educates nearly twelve thousand students, on both full and part-time studies, on ten faculties. There are many foreign students studying at the University.
The education and research conducted at the University ranges from biology and earth science, through humanities and law, to economics and management. The structure of the University includes the Department of Information Technology in Management conducting research and educating students in the fields of design and development of management information systems since 1975 (before its incorporation to University of Szczecin in 1985, it was a part of Technical University of Szczecin).
University of Szczecin has been providing programming courses to its students since its incorporation in 1985. At present, the curricula include subjects teaching such programming languages as Python, C#, Java, PHP and JavaScript. The university has its own e-learning center, and uses interactive learning environments in its programming education.
